Manager – Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs
Job Description:
- Develop and execute the company's public policy and government relations strategy in line with business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
- Represent the company in discussions with ministries, regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, and other public sector organizations.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to
transportation, tourism, digital economy, consumer protection, data
privacy, and other relevant sectors. - Assess the business impact of new regulations and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Prepare policy briefs, regulatory submissions, position papers, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Corporate Communications, and business teams to ensure a consistent approach to regulatory matters.
- Support advocacy initiatives by engaging with industry associations, chambers, consultants, and external partners.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, workshops, roundtables, and policy discussions.
- Advise senior leadership on regulatory risks, opportunities, and emerging policy trends.
- Support public communication on policy-related matters in collaboration with the Communications team.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and advocacy groups where relevant.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Public Policy, Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, or a similar role.
- Experience within the technology, transportation, mobility, logistics, telecommunications, or related industries is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Sri Lanka's legislative, regulatory, and government processes.
- Experience engaging with government ministries, regulatory bodies, and public sector stakeholders.
- Proven ability to influence policy discussions and navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil will be an added advantage.
